Fudgy chocolate brownie recipe on For the Love of George

I had a hankering for baking. So I made brownies. Oh so delicious, and oh so simple! We were feasting on slabs of this little beauty in no time.

Fudgy brownies

200g chocolate, chopped (milk or dark, whichever you prefer. I only had milk chocolate in my pantry at the time the craving sprouted, so that’s what I used)
150g butter
½ cup caster sugar
2 eggs
1 cup plain flour, sifted
¼ cup self-raising flour, sifted
2 x 60g Cadbury Whip or Mars bars, chopped
Handful of crushed peanuts

Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Grease a 25cm-ish tray and line with baking paper, set aside (my tin was a little large — the smaller your tin, the taller your brownies will be).

Melt the chocolate, butter and sugar in a bowl over a pot of simmering water on the stove. Allow to cool before whisking in the eggs and folding through the flours.

Gently stir through the chopped Whip bars, then pour the mixture into the prepared tray, smoothing out the surface a little with your spatula. Sprinkle with the crushed peanuts, then bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes (or until your house smells heavenly and you can’t stand it any longer). Allow to cool in the tray slightly before slicing into squares and filling your face.

Yum. Yum.
