My first quilt

…and so began my passion for quilting. This beautiful quilt was bought as a kit from a stall at the Australasian Quilt Convention, which is happening again here in Melbourne next week. I will definitely need to pop along to ogle all the beautiful designs and fabrics. I certainly won’t be coveting one of the gorgeous Bernina’s this year — I already own my dream machine! I pieced the patchwork top, then had it professionally machine quilted by Addicted to Quilts. Desley is always very busy, it can take months to get your quilt booked in, but the results are always fantastic. (Side note: I won’t be requiring Desley’s services anymore, since the purchase of my new machine, but more on that later!)

This quilt holds a special place in my heart, because it went to a very worthy home. A gorgeous friend of mine, whom I have been friends with since we were ten years old, recently found out that her 18-month-old nephew has leukaemia. The family has been through some tough times of late, and the news was such a devastating blow. The poor little guy is such a trooper, and with early detection their hopes are high for a full recovery. My love and best wishes are with them always. You can make a donation to support leukaemia research here: World’s Greatest Shave.

Happy Anzac day. Lest we forget. xo
