Train quilt for girls

Pink, green, red and brown 'little trains' gender neutral cot quilt on For the Love of George

I made this little quilt six months ago, as a first birthday present for Miss Elle.

There is a huge love of trains in this household — a beautiful sepia, large-scale photograph of an old (London?) train station adorns the dining room wall, and you will spot little prints and wooden toys here and there. Clever mum, Amber, even made a lovely locomotive canvas to decorate the nursery (see photograph below).

Naturally, when the time came to choose the fabrics for Elle, trains were a definite must-have. Oh, how difficult it is to find gender-neutral trains! This cute print was sourced from the big WWW, made by a Japanese company, delivered via California. It’s done some mileage!

According to mum, Elle sleeps with the quilt every night — which of course, thrills me to bits. I love knowing my little creation is being used and loved. Elle had Amber and I chuckling as we photographed — as soon as I laid it on the floor, she tottered on over and planted her bum with a thud!

My name is Ali. I love the quilts you have on your blog. My mom and I started quilting about four years ago, and we are always looking for new fun patterns. I was wondering if you would be willing to give me your patterns that you have up here.

    Thanks,
    Ali

Hi Ali, it’s so lovely to meet you! This particular quilt was based upon a design in Amy Butler’s ‘Little Stitches for Little Ones’ book — though I changed the dimensions to suit my needs, I would probably be breaching copyright if I shared the pattern with you all. But rest assured, I’ll always share patterns where it is appropriate to do so.
    Thanks again for saying hello!
    Cheers,
    Lauren
